    3 Washer & drop

Drop is how far the washer sits below the top edge of the shade. A bigger drop makes the shade sit higher on the lamp. Custom washers are available in many sizes; ask us.

    Shapes & how to measure

We size shades as top × bottom × slant height, in inches. Slant height is measured along the side of the shade, not straight down. Drum shapes have the same top and bottom, so they just need a width and a height. Replacing an existing shade? Measure it the same way.

    • Round Drum

      Diameter 6–30" · Height 4–24"

Measure straight across the top (it matches the bottom), then the height straight up the side.

Good for: Guest-room table lamps, lobby floor lamps, pendants

    • Round Tapered

    Washers & drop

The washer is the fitting that attaches the shade to the lamp. Match it to your lamps and the shade will drop straight on. Custom washers are available in many sizes.

    • Standard washer (3/8")

      Standard washer (3/8")

Sits on top of the lamp harp and is held on by the finial. The most common fitting on hotel table and floor lamps.

    • UNO washer (threaded or unthreaded)

      UNO washer (threaded or unthreaded)

A ring that fits over the lamp socket below the bulb, so no harp is needed. Common on swing-arm and wall lamps.

    • Flat / Euro washer

      Flat / Euro washer

A flat washer with a large center hole, held on the socket by its shade ring. Used on European-style sockets.

    • Slotted (C) washer

      Slotted (C) washer

Open on one side so the shade slides onto the fixture without taking the lamp apart.

    • What is "drop"?

Drop is the distance from the top edge of the shade down to the washer. A bigger drop raises the shade on the lamp so the socket stays hidden. Most hotel table lamps use a ½" to 1" drop.

    Edge finishes

We offer three edge finishes. Tape and trim can match the material or contrast with it to tie in with your interior.

    • Taped lampshade edge

      Taped

A thin band of tape along the top and bottom edges, matching or in a contrasting color.

    • Trim lampshade edge

      Trim

A wider trim band along the top and bottom edges for a bolder look.

    • Rolled edge lampshade edge

      Rolled edge

The material is rolled over the frame for a soft, finished edge.

Also available: inside linings in white, gold or black, and diffusers to soften the light.
